“Do you live by the river? I hope so, because people who live near running water are much nicer than people who don’t. I’d be mean as a scorpion if I lived inland.”

That second sentence is probably completely untrue, but I like it anyway. The friend who recommended The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society to me was right: the book is, at moments, laugh out loud funny. It reminds me how much I love fiction.

Peruse The Spotted Hog Candle Company‘s website, and let my mouth water as I read scent descriptions like “Blackberry Croissants – Heavenly scent of freshly baked, flaky croissants, with notes of crusty, freshly baked bread slathered with newly churned sweet creamery butter and fresh blackberries” or “Mrs. Claus Candy Cane Cookies – Delectable buttery sugar cookies iced with royal vanilla icing sprinkled with crushed candy cane pieces and a pinch of Christmas magic from Mrs. Claus herself for good measure.” The list of delectable aromas goes on and on and on…
